As an indie author, I know how much hard work goes into crafting the perfect book. The last thing I want is for a reader to be “pulled out of the story” by spelling and grammar errors, problems with incorrect tense, and continuity errors. After reading a manuscript numerous times, it’s hard for an author to trust their own eyes when it comes to finding such errors. That’s where I come in!
I offer both line editing — a thorough review of your manuscript with corrections at the word, sentence, paragraph, and chapter level, including finding all spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and grammar mistakes, as well as making suggestions for word flow and spotting continuity errors or plot holes, and proofreading — a final polish of an edited (by yourself or someone else) manuscript. Proofreading catches spelling, punctuation, and grammar, as well as extra words and the use of correct forms of words (there/they’re/their). I am experienced at proofreading manuscripts created with Dragon Naturally Speaking dictation software, which often requires extra effort to decipher some of what Dragon actually writes!
I have been editing for indie authors for over five years with many satisfied customers. I am an American native English speaker, but I am happy to edit UK/Australian/New Zealand English works. I can also “Americanize” vocabulary for the US market.
I edit all popular genres — Romance, Young Adult, Thriller/Mystery, Crime/Police Procedural, New Adult, etc. I am also 100% comfortable editing Erotica, which some editors will not accept. I want you to be happy with my services, so I offer a free sample edit (up to 1000 words) to each new client.

RATES AND POLICIES
Sample edit (up to 1000 words): FREE
Line editing: $6.00 USD per 1000 words
Proofreading: $3.00 USD per 1000 words
Proofreading for Manuscripts dictated with Dragon Naturally Speaking: $4.00 per 1000 words.
Second Proofreading after author corrections/changes: $1.00 USD per 1000 words.
RUSH jobs:
$10.00 USD flat rate per 10K words (up to 20K words 48 hours or less turnaround/21K-50K words 72-hour or less turnaround)
Manuscripts over 50K words are not suitable for rushed turnaround. Rush fees are in addition to standard editing and proofreading fees. Rush jobs are accepted when the number of pending jobs permits.
Payment Policies: Once we’ve agreed to work together, I require a 50% deposit of the total estimated fee via PayPal prior to starting work. You don’t need a PayPal account to pay this way — a credit or debit card works just fine. If the final fee will be $50.00 USD or less, I require full payment prior to starting the work. Final payment for jobs over $50.00 USD is expected via PayPal within two business days of delivery of the edited manuscript.
Cancellation Fee: Bookings are often made weeks or months in advance, which allows me to estimate accurate deadlines and accommodate client schedules. For this reason, once a date has been booked for editing or proofreading there will be a cancellation fee of 25% of the total fee if cancellation is requested within five working days of the booking start date. Prior to five working days of the start date, no fee will be charged. If you need to reschedule, please contact me as early as possible, and I will see if I can accommodate the change in order to prevent a cancellation.
The Editing Process: The author provides a completed manuscript for line editing or an edited manuscript for proofreading. The file should be formatted in Times Roman 12 pt, or I can do this for you. I can work with Google Docs, Word documents, or Scrivener files. I will make changes using the “track changes” function in either Word or Google Docs. Scrivener files do not allow for tracked changes.
If the submitted manuscript does not fit the contracted service (for example, the author requests proofreading but the manuscript has clearly not been edited), I will contact you to make a change in the service prior to beginning work.
I will return the carefully edited manuscript to you within an agreed upon time frame. If you have any questions, I can be contacted via email and will reply within 12 hours.
Turnaround Times:
An estimated turnaround time will be given at the time of booking inquiry. Turnaround times depend on the current number of bookings, type of booking (proofreading or editing), and the word count of the document(s). Average turnaround time for a novel-length manuscript is five working days for proofreading and ten to fourteen working days for full editing.

Your work is your own, and I will not share it with anyone else, nor will I share pen names, legal names, email addresses or other personal information.
